Researchers at MIT’s Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory (CSAIL) are working on gathering a large dataset to understand nutrition choices. The current objective is to gather food photos to train their neural network to discern food meta-data such as ingredients, and preparation methods (stewed, braised, raw).
This is a multi-national collaborative project with Universitat Politecnica de Catalunya, and Qatar Computing Research Institute, and the research abstract can be found here: http://im2recipe.csail.mit.edu/
The application used to gather this dataset is named "Pic2Recipe."
